Kun TANG is an artist and a researcher in aesthetics and the sciences of art at the ACTE Institute of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. Born in 1985 in Jinzhou, China, and raised in a rural village surrounded by fields and plant nurseries, he loved painting and was full of interest in plants and insects from an early age.
In 2005, he enrolled in the Department of Oil Painting at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in China. He came to France in 2007, when he began developing transmedia practices and reflecting on works involving different media and forms, such as video and installation. In 2025, he defended his thesis, Art et agriculture : après la révolution de la représentation, at the Doctoral School of Plastic Arts, Aesthetics and Art Sciences (APESA), within the Sorbonne School of Arts at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
Kun Tang currently lives in Paris, where he continues his artistic practice and research in art sciences and aesthetics. His work addresses interdisciplinary issues concerning processes of domestication among creatures and bio-ecopolitical structures. His practice encompasses various forms of image-making, as well as installation and performance.
